February 2026 class schedule

Sunday

monday

February 2

Yoga for Daily Life
5:30-7 p.m.

Cancelled due to snow

  • Yoga for Daily Life focuses on healthy aging. Each class is designed around a theme that promotes mindfulness, flexibility, and strength for the body, mind, and heart. Classes begin with breathwork, bringing all into the present moment and into full body awareness.

Next, we lie on the mat to perform asanas that help reveal what the current body needs and where constriction and tightness exists. Through a slow range of motion movements, we find space that allows energy to flow more fully through joints, muscles, fascia, and the entire nervous system. Once we have energy flowing more freely, we move on to kneeling, standing, and inverted asanas that enhance our strength, stamina, mobility, balance, and focus.

Through challenges in these asanas, each student learns how their own everyday patterns and habits cause suffering and how to use different yogic techniques to ease that suffering.  As class comes to an end, we enjoy one or two yin poses, allowing our body to release any last tension before making our way into savasana for an integrative rest.

Classes are for all skill levels.

  • Some months I often offer special classes:  Slow Flow classes to burn off holiday calories, Yin classes to open up and soothe the nervous system, restorative classes to expand the parasympathetic nervous system, educational classes on yoga anatomy, etc.  We also have Quarterly Birthday Brunches and holiday dinners and special events (e.g. yoga festivals, yoga under the stars at the Morehead Planetarium, yoga at Firefly Farms).
